Grapes grow all over the world, but their natural origin is in certain highlands of the northern hemisphere, in the general area of Europe and east Asia, from about the 30th to 50th parallel that runs from north Africa to Normandy, France.

Germans were everywhere in Albany. There were German bakeries, saloons, churches, markets, and farms growing cabbages. German language newspapers, German singing societies and social clubs, and even a German gun club. All of that is gone now, forgotten or Anglicized. But one piece of old German-Albany lives.
